Cleveland Dentists Dr. Brian Gallagher Performs Wide Range of Procedures

While I practice the full scope of general dentistry, there are some aspects that I really enjoy very much, including, for example the cosmetic side of dentistry. In dental school we do not get a tremendous amount of exposure to the cosmetic dentistry, and it is very rewarding here in practice to be able to see a case through from start to finish with a patient. When the patient smiles, beaming ear to ear after their treatment, I am thrilled to have done the work to improve their health and esthetics of their smile.

Extracting teeth is also a part of general dentistry that I find to be very rewarding because I am providing immediate relief when a tooth must be removed. Many people are afraid of extractions, but we keep patients comfortable and remove teeth quickly and efficiently.

The diagnostic part of being a general dentist is also fascinating. At West Park Dental we see a number of patients who are on several medications that could affect their health and dental treatment. It is important to me to be able to treat a patient as their physician would, knowing common linkages and talking through the situation with the patient during diagnosis. I love that problem-solving aspect of diagnosis and treatment planning. It is a bit like putting together a puzzle.

I also like performing root canal treatments, which allows me to focus on a tiny aspect of the tooth and fix it completely. With root canals I am able to get the patient out of pain which is very rewarding to me as a practitioner. By working with specialists and also by doing treatments such as root canals here in our practice I have been able to expand on my own abilities and that of the practice itself long term.

Working here at West Park Dental is a great experience for me and I am proud to continue the family tradition.
