Dr. Michael Gallagher Provides Dental Care for Patients of All Ages
My passion for working as a dentist comes from enjoying the relationships I have with patients. I became interested in the field of dentistry when I was teaching school in Akron, Ohio and I went to see a local dentist who was just a couple years older than me. With my science background, this dentist suggested that I consider going into dentistry. I checked it out and ultimately enrolled at Case Western.
Today my passion comes from patients trusting me with their care. When the patient tells me how happy they are with the results of the treatment, it is a compliment that helps keep the passion alive in me, and I continue to provide the best work possible for the patient.
I have had the pleasure of treating patients from a tremendous age range. The youngest patient I ever saw was only 12 hours old. The child had some neonatal teeth and because of that condition the mother could not breast feed. I went to the hospital neonatal ward and extracted three baby teeth. My oldest patient, whom I just lost a couple of years ago, was 106 years old. I see a complete range of patients and I cannot say that I like one age group more than another.
At West Park Dental we have seen many generations from the same family. Some patients have been coming to this office for dental care since they were children back in the 1940s, long before I was here, and now as grandparents and great grandparents they are still coming to the office to see me and my son, Dr. Brian Gallagher. It is a priority for us to care for the aging patient population, including being fully aware of medications they might be taking. We aim to enable patients to keep their teeth in a healthy condition and functioning well for as long as possible.
Because our practice spans so many generations, we are truly a family practice.
